9Lives Home Services sold to Mehiläinen

9Lives home services will become part of Mehiläinen through an acquisition. Thanks to this business acquisition, Mehiläinen will be able to offer quality home services in more locations than before and meet the continuously growing demand. The completion of the deal requires approval from the competition authority.

As the population ages, the demand for home-delivered services continues to grow in Finland. To respond to this need, Mehiläinen has signed an acquisition agreement that will transfer 9Lives Kotipalvelut Oy’s home services to become part of Mehiläinen. 9Lives home services include elderly home care, personal assistance, and care for respiratory paralysis patients. Ambulance services are not included in the acquisition. With this acquisition, 9Lives’ 1,400 home service employees will transfer to Mehiläinen as existing employees.

“To ensure smooth everyday life and good quality of life, it’s important that high-quality care and assistance services can be brought home to the elderly, disabled, and others in need of help. With this acquisition, we will be able to offer Mehiläinen’s home services in new locations as well. 9Lives is known for its professional staff and is a specialist in home-delivered care and assistance services as well as other mobile nurse-centered services. Together with them, we can continue to develop our services,” says Markku Pikkarainen, who is responsible for Mehiläinen’s home and nursing services.

Finnish 9Lives offers home-delivered services in 13 welfare areas.

“Mehiläinen is a reliable and innovative industry player with solid experience in home services and a functional organization for running these services. It is important to us that Mehiläinen wants to continue growing and developing home-delivered care and assistance services. The 9Lives professionals will get a good new home base, and clients will have a stable service provider,” says 9Lives CEO Markus Ulfstedt.

The acquisition requires approval from the competition authority to be completed. The deal is expected to be finalized during 2025. The arrangement will not affect home service clients or the services provided.
